DIY Plaster Doll Casts
Has your little one ever broken a bone and received a cast? Or do they know someone who has? Casts are sometimes a really interesting, and even exciting, experience for little ones.

This activity is suitable for ages 4 - 10 and requires adult supervision. This activity should only ever be performed on dolls and not on any little real arms and legs.
Materials Needed:
- A tub of water
- Plaster of Paris rolls
- Newspapers (for drips)
- A doll (the patient!)
- Gloves (optional)
Directions:
First, dip the first strip of plaster gauze into the water, then, holding the top in one hand, smooth down the length of the strip around the doll limb. Doing this will squeeze some of the water out and, most importantly, joins the little holes together to make a smooth surface of plaster.
You can continue to add strips in this way, covering the doll limb so that a cast begins to form. Continue until the desired thickness is reached. Allow the cast to dry about 30-60 minutes before continuing to play!
