On December 10, Proliance Orthopedic Associates physicians and staff got into the holiday spirit at the Christmas Rush Fun Run in Kent. As sponsors of the 34th annual event, we set up a booth to pass out coffee, chapstick, and hand sanitizer to over 2,000 runners, walkers, and community members.
Along with making sure everyone was properly caffeinated, we also provided promotional pamphlets on sports medicine. Two athletic trainers were available to tape feet and ankles and answer any questions regarding sports injuries, while our own Dr. Jones, a sports medicine expert, was on hand to answer any questions from the community, particularly those involving concussion baseline testing. Members of our marketing team and three medical assistants were also present to provide information and cheer on the runners and walkers.
Participants, including two POA staffers, turned up to tackle either the 5K or 10K in their best ugly holiday sweaters or winter-themed costumes, from reindeers to holiday trees. After the race were prize drawings and awards for the top five finishers in each category.
