Each team had 10 members and together raised more than $2,000 for the American Cancer Society.
The American Cancer Society describes Relay for Life as a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research, advocacy, education and patient services programs of the American Cancer Society. Kent Relay for Life participants gathered at French Field at Kent Meridian High School. Team members took turns walking or running laps around the track. The goal is to have at least one team member on the track at all times.
VOA employees Lorraine Sandoval and Bobbi Larsen captained the two teams that creatively raised funds through potluck lunches and a percentage of sales from custom-made jewelry donated by VOA employee and Relay for Life team member Ann Grundell.
