Veggie Skeleton

Get your little ones in the kitchen and encourage healthy eating with this fun snack idea!

This activity is best for children ages 3-10. Parental assistance/supervision is needed.

Materials needed:

  • Cutting board
  • Knives for chopping
  • Small bowl
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Olive slices
  • Veggie dip
  • Celery
  • Baby Carrots
  • Mushrooms
  • Cherry/grape tomatoes
  • Cauliflower
  • Broccoli
  • Cucumbers

Directions:

Have your child help you to wash and dry all vegetables in preparation for cutting. Depending on how old your child is, you may either cut the vegetables ahead of time, or you may have your child help you to work through cutting the vegetables for the platter.

Once all vegetables are cut, arrange them on the platter according to the picture. Take the small bowl, fill it with veggie dip, and use for the head. Once the veggie skeleton is assembled, dig in and enjoy a health snack with your kids!

Tip: Use this opportunity to discuss how fruits and vegetables help us all to grow strong bones and bodies.
