The Office of Continuing Medical Education at Valley Medical Center, in conjunction with Valley Orthopedic Associates, offers “Diagnosis and Treatment of Orthopedic Conditions: An Overview for Primary Care Practitioners” on April 21 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“Diagnosis and Treatment of Orthopedic Conditions” will begin in the Medical Arts Center Auditorium, located on the north end of the Valley Medical Center campus in Renton at 4033 Talbot Road South, First Floor. Hands-on sessions will take place at Valley Orthopedic Associates, located in the adjacent building. The course is free for physicians and practitioners on the Valley Medical Center medical staff; $20 for non-VMC physicians and practitioners.
This half-day course will combine presentations and hands-on sessions that will outline the diagnosis and treatment of common orthopedic conditions seen by primary care providers and emphasize pertinent clinical exams, splint and cast techniques, as well as proper non-operative care. Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Diagnose and treat common orthopedic injuries involving the spine, shoulder, wrist, hand, hip, knee, foot and ankle;
- Have a greater understanding of common upper extremity overuse syndromes;
- Evaluate common neck and back symptoms;
- Treat early arthritic conditions of the hip and knee;
- Apply basic splints for wrist and ankle injuries; and
- Understand the rationale for various imaging studies
Valley Medical Center is accredited by the Washington State Medical Association CME Accreditation Committee to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians. Valley Medical Center designates this educational activity for a maximum 4.25 Category 1 credits to satisfy the re-licensure requirements of the Washington State Medical Quality Assurance Commission and toward the AMA Physicians Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
