The Seattle Seahawks are officially 2014 NFL Champions! However, their big win in the final game didn’t come without a cost. Star cornerback and outspoken mini-celeb Richard Sherman went down early in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury that appeared serious. He never made it back into the game, as he was carted off to the locker room. Later he appeared on the sideline using crutches.
Sherman himself acknowledged that he suffered a high ankle sprain early in the contest and re-aggravated it in the fourth quarter. Luckily, the ‘Hawks were already up huge at the time, so there was no urgency to get the spectacular defender back into the game.
It was confirmed later that Sherman suffered a second degree high ankle sprain during the big game. The injury may take a few weeks to heal, but high ankle sprains are notoriously difficult to predict.
